LAT 217: Roman Poetry: The Augustan Age (3).
Concentrating primarily on Vergil's Aeneid, this course serves as an
introduction to the development of the Roman national epic and to the
incorporation of contemporary social and political themes into the literature
of the late Republic and early Empire. Special emphasis is given the use of
Augustan imagery and ideals in the works of Vergil and Horace.
