Meeting Time: M. 3:30 PM - 4:20 PM

Course Objectives:

1. To provide appropriate and accurate academic information.
2. To provide help in dealing with nonacademic problems that interfere with academic success.
3. To ease the first-year student's transition to college level learning and the college environment.

Participation:

Being an active contributor is key to doing well in the class. Our sessions will be discussion-based. The more involved you are, the more you will take away from the class. It will also help your classmates and me to get know you better. You need to be in class and at the special events (specified workshop offered by the Academic Support Center)

Assignment:

1. Journal
You will be required to maintain a journal that records your experiences of being an incoming student to Le Moyne College. Treat the journal as a place you will record what you are going through. It should be something that you can look back on in the years to come. Feel free to supplement the journal with photographs, clippings, and fliers of events you attend. You can keep a handwritten journal on loose-leaf sheets that go into a binder. I will collect your entries on September 17, October 15, and November 12.

2. Time allocation project
You will keep a two week, 24 hour a day record of how you are allocating your time. Based on the data you will write a one page (typed) analysis of your time allocation, addressing in particular: Where it's all going? and what patterns of time allocation seem to be the most constructively productive? This project will due on Dec. 3.
