5 things to wonder about while you read

The syllabus has the schedule of assigned readings - As you read these texts, try to understand what is bothering the authors, and what we can learn from reading them (even if they are mistaken!).

When evaluating them, some things to consider are:
  1. Are they consistent?   If not, what are some of the contradictions?
  2. Is what they say tenable (does it seem like it could be true)? Why/why not?
  3. Does what they say help address some interesting/important ethical or moral issues? Why/why not?
  4. Does what they say present a way worth following?  Why/why not?
  5. Do they teach something you want to learn?  Why/why not?
